On Thursday 23 May, Coopersale Hall held the Year 5 & 6 House Swimming Gala at Ongar Pool.
The first races were the 25m Freestyle and Backstroke for our Champion Swimmers. This is a separate competition that the pupils take part in during the gala. We then invited all the pupils to swim Front Crawl and Backstroke to score points for their School Houses as part of the House Swimming Shield Competition. We then asked our Champion Swimmers to take part in the 25m Breaststroke race and for the Year 6 pupils the 25m Butterfly event. Then it was the turn of all the pupils to swim Breaststroke for their houses, we ended with a Freestyle Relay race.
Finally, it was time for all the points to be added up and the medals to be given out. Our Year 6 Champion Swimmer was Kimaya and our Year 5 Champion Swimmer was Francesca. There were also gold medals for Elara who won the Stroke medal and Louis who won the most improved swimmer medal. Kimaya also won our Diving competition. After many close races, it was Beech who were the House Swimming Gala Champions of 2019.
Mr Robinson would like to thank all of the pupils for all their effort and determination. Also a big thank you to the parents who turned up to cheer them on.
