Year 6 Review Great Expectations

Year 6 are reading “Great Expectations” by Charles Dickens.  They are enjoying reading it together and also listening to the audio cd that accompanies the book. Not only is this an excellent book but it is also rather apt that year 6 themselves are on the verge of their own great expectations!

Our class discussions have highlighted how words can be used to infer meaning and that sometimes these inferences can be “red herrings”! The whole class has come together to celebrate the detective skills that Ralph has shown.

In their written work they have been focusing on the character of Pip and how he has changed over the course of the book.  This is a piece by Emily, that we hope will inspire you to read this book if you have never done so.  We really enjoyed reading, listening to it and discussing it together.
