Year 4 have been recreating some of Pablo Picasso’s classic work, including Portrait of Woman with a Hat using oil pastels. They have enjoyed finding out about this fascinating artist. Margaux Carins would like to share her research:
- Picasso produced thousands of paintings and sculptures over his lifetime.
- He painted his first painting at age 9 of a bullfighter.
- His works was split into different stages including: The Blue Period; The Rose period; Cubism; Surrealism and Wartime.

Not all the children enjoyed using the pastels, finding them very messy! However, they were all thrilled with the results. I think you will agree they have done a fantastic job!
