Celebration Assembly 20th January 2025 – Big Bird Watch

Our whole school assembly was led by Mr. Wilson, who enthusiastically shared that the RSPB is the country’s largest conservation charity, dedicated to inspiring everyone to give nature a home. During January and February, the organization invites children across the UK to count the birds in their school grounds. The information collected from schools helps the RSPB monitor how different bird species are faring across the country.

Mr. Wilson engaged the children by showing slides of various bird species and was impressed by their depth of knowledge. He then invited several pupils from the audience to identify birds using only small sections of their bodies as clues. The children carefully considered their answers, demonstrating thoughtful responses.

As a school, we are excited to participate in this wonderful event, contributing to the RSPB’s efforts to understand how well our birds are doing and supporting their mission to give nature a home in an ever-changing landscape.
