On Wednesday 31 January Years 5 and 6 went to see Starlight Express, performed by pupils at St. Edmund’s College at The Spotlight Theatre in Broxboune. It was a fantastic day out and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
The play featured a very competitive setting as trains battled against each other in the ‘Train World Championship’. It looked as if diesel was the way forward… but steam and electric had other ideas, as they would later feature in the final. The story had twists and turns on and off the track. The current World Champion was a diesel train, he did everything in his power to retain his title but in the end, it was not enough.
Rusty was the main character, everyone doubted his ambitions but the aging steam train was victorious in the end. He had a strong connection with Pearl; they had a moment at the end.
We would like to thank the bus driver, Mrs Watson, Miss Leeks, Mrs Howard, Mrs Redin and Mrs Khatibi for caring for us during the day and thanks to St Edmunds College for inviting us and giving us an unforgettable day.
