On the Monday 6 December, Coopersale Hall played two football matches in the Epping & Ongar District Schools League. It was a miserable, damp afternoon and we piled into the minibus to drive the short distance to North Weald Shooters football pitches.
The team arrived confident and ready to play some exciting football.
Our first opposition was Epping Primary School. In all the years that Mr Robinson has been at the school, we have never managed to beat them. We went behind by a goal but then the team really started to play well and by half time, we were 2-1 ahead. The team talk from Olly at half time was focused on how we could keep our lead. It worked! The final score was 5-2 to Coopersale Hall.
Our second game was against Moreton School. We remembered the coaching of Mr Robinson and kept our positions during the game. Our defence was solid with Kaiser in goal and the two Olly’s blocking and tackling. The attacking combination of Ewan, Nigel, Monty, Daniel and Lucas worked well with the goals flying in. The final score was 13-3 to Coopersale Hall.
Special moments were Olly B’s strong kicks, Olly T’s goal line clearance, Kaiser’s safe hands, Nigel’s athleticism, Ewan’s skillful goal, Daniel’s header, Lucas’s tap in and Monty’s determination. Three hat tricks were scored by Ewan, Nigel and Monty.
We were all thrilled at the results, particularly beating our local rivals Epping Primary School.
Thank you to Mr Robinson for excellent refereeing and to Miss Leeks for coming out on a cold afternoon to support us. Thanks to the parents for cheering us on. The team is feeling excited and ready for the next game.
