On Friday 7th October year 6 girls participated in the WESSP football tournament at The Grange in Chigwell. There were teams from both state and independent schools from around West Essex taking part in the competition. This tournament was the first of the year and the girls played really well, showing excellent skills and sportsmanship.
Year 6 Sports Prefect – Francesca:
‘There were 19 teams and 16 schools, as some had A and B teams. Each school played 4 seven-minute matches to move on to the semi-finals. To have a guaranteed spot in the semi-finals we would have had to win at least 3 out of the 4 matches.
Our first match was against Braeside B team, which, after a hot seven minutes, we won 2-0, both goals were scored by Jess in 6B.
Unfortunately, we lost our other three matches. We did not get into the finals, or semi-finals, but we got to play 3 fun matches which allowed us to practise our football skills.
Overall, it was a fun trip and it was a chance to learn new skills with other schools. Thank you to Mr Barham and Mrs Knowles for taking us and being so supportive.’
