Coronation fever has hit Coopersale Hall! The children have been busy making crowns, creating coronation art for the gallery in the hall, enjoying afternoon tea in the Early Years and dressing up in red white and blue.
Pupils have been learning about the British monarch and what happens at a coronation. Everyone is looking forward to watching the big event tomorrow and seeing the new King wave from the balcony.
Here are a few fun facts about His Majesty King Charles III:
-
The king can play 3 instruments! The cello, piano AND trumpet.
-
King Charles loves to paint and has been doing it for the last 50 years. He only paints in watercolour and likes to paint outdoor scenes and landscapes. The surrounding areas of Balmoral are also a firm favourite!
-
From 1967 to 1970, he studied history at Cambridge University, making him the first monarch in UK history with a university degree!
-
King Charles III is no stranger to an audience, having featured in UK TV show Coronation Street, participated in stage magicians’ group the Magic Circle and presented the BBC weather forecast.

The orchestra came together to perform “God Save The King” and we all stood and sang our national anthem. Miss Barnard was delighted how well informed the children were about this momentous event. Everyone who received their Merit, Bucket Filler, Science and Bootcamp awards this week stood and were given a loud round of applause from everyone. We wish everyone a marvellous and happy Coronation weekend with happy and wonderful memories.
